Y7 S-HALF PROGRESS EVENING
We have a progress evening on Tuesday 1st May for Year 7 S-half (TWL, NF, CP, HR). The evening starts at 4.30 and finishes at 7.00. Students should make appointments in their planners and parents should bring a pen with them.
YEAR 9 ENGLISH GCSE CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT Wednesday 23rd May
There is a forthcoming GCSE Controlled Assessment taking place for all Year 9 students in English.
Students are currently preparing for the forthcoming Controlled Assessment and will be sitting the Controlled Assessment Task on Of Mice and Men on Wednesday 23rd May. Pupils will sit the Controlled Assessment in the morning and will have two hours on the task with additional time given in subsequent lessons. They are allowed into the assessment with an A4 page of notes on a pro-forma provided by the examination board, AQA. They will also be provided with a clean copy of the novella .The students will have spent several lessons preparing for this and will know in advance what the question will be.
It is important that Year 9 students prepare thoroughly for the Controlled Assessment as the resulting work will form part of their overall grade for GCSE English Language. They must also remember to bring the A4 notes page from AQA to the examination with them. Students who fail to do this will put themselves at a disadvantage and the English Faculty are keen to avoid this happening.
