GEORGE SPENCER TEACHING SCHOOL ALLIANCE
"Leadership is driven by a strong moral purpose to improve students’ life chances. Leaders are relentless in their quest for continuous improvement, and provide outstanding leadership in this school, and to the schools they support."
- Ofsted (May 2015)
Welcome to the George Spencer Academy's section of our website dedicated to our Teaching School Alliance (GSA TSA). GSA is the lead school for the TSA which is a combination of primary, secondary and special schools, several HEIs, and other subject organizations and networks.
We were designated as the lead school for one of the first 100 National Teaching Schools in July 2011. This status recognises our long-standing commitment, capacity and credibility to lead in a number of key areas that are features of Teaching School activity. More recently we have also become the lead school for one of the 32 national maths hubs in England.
Since 2011 we have proactively supported a number of other schools, some former TSA members, to become Teaching Schools themselves and played an active role in their induction and subsequent support. We are active members of EMTSA, a regional group of Teaching School Alliances who come together to support each other and the region such that we collectively lead a schools led 'self-improving' system within our region.
Our vision is that of a learning community where everyone is involved and contributing to enhancing the life chances of all our pupils and where everybody takes responsibility for pupil outcomes in other schools as well as their own.
